The Major Arcana; the Inner Journey

The Major Arcana represents a person’s internal journey from novice to mastery in a particular goal or overall purpose.

The Major Arcana represents aether, the element of the spirit/soul. It is visually shown in this deck as the Fools ‘O’ symbol or the Torch (a burning glyph that is was recognized by the ancient world as the sign of salvation and everlasting life, much like the Christian Cross today).

The Major Arcana represents significant events that may change you and how you see yourself.

The Minor Arcana; External Influences

The Minor Arcana represents people and situations that occur externally. It is split into four suits: Wands (fire, representing desires and the will), Cups (water, representing emotions and the heart), Swords (air, representing intellect/mental anguish and the mind), and Pentacles (earth, representing material progress/achievements and the body).

The Minor Arcana can also be seen in Jungian terms: Wands; I Desire, Cups; I Feel, Swords; I think, and Pentacles; I possess. It signifies less significant events than the Major Arcana; they occur around you and tend not to directly change you.
